JESUS - Saviour or Slaughterer?

For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them .... Luke 9:56

From His arrest until His crucifixion the Lord Jesus Christ suffered agony at the hands of men. He was so badly beaten we are told He looked hardly human, He was mocked, spat upon, reviled and had a crown of thorns beaten onto His head with a stick. Not once did He retaliate - although He could have. We read in Matthew 26:53 where Jesus tells us that He could have had 12 legions of angels come to His rescue.

If you read Daniel Chapter 11 you will discover that Gaberiel was on his way to Daniel with a message from God, but was held up fighting the Persians for 21 days, then Michael came to help so that Gaberiel could go ahead with the message.

Having delivered the message, Gaberiel left Daniel to return to the fight.

Just two angels fighting an army - and the Lord Jesus Christ could have had 12 legions of them had He asked, but He didn't. He went as a lamb to the slaughter and did no harm to those around Him - in fact He prayed:

"Father forgive them for they know not what they do." (Luke 23:34)

When Christ died there was an earthquake which tore the veil to the Holy of Holies from top to bottom ending the need for a priesthood since Jesus had become our Great High Priest. But no other damage was done and no one was injured.

At His resurrection there was another earthquake. Again, no damage done - nor anyone harmed - rather the graves of some saints were opened and their bodies came forth. (Matt. 27:52,53)

That is the Jesus of the Bible - The Saviour.

Now let us turn to the Book of Mormon to see what happened when the Mormon Jesus died.

Please Notice, we are not looking at what happened in Jerusalem to the people who are torturing and mocking the Lord. NO! We are looking at what happened to people on the other side of the world on the continent now known as America.

Whereas the Biblical Jesus forgave, the Mormon Jesus takes vengeance.

"And it came to pass in the thirty and fourth year...there arose a great storm...And there was also a great and terrible tempest; and there was terrible thunder, insomuch that it did shake the whole earth...And the city of Zarahemla did take fire. And the city of Moroni did sink into the depths of the sea and the inhabitants thereof were drowned. And the earth was carried up upon the city of Moronihah, that in the place of the city there became a great mountain. 3 Nephi 8 : 5-10

In all 16 cities are destroyed with all their inhabitants. Some burned; some sunk in the sea and others buried under mountains. The whole of 3 Nephi 8 is filled with this vengeance and ends with those who killed and stoned the prophets being spared while their mothers; fair daughters and children have been slaughtered.

The destruction took place during three days of darkness - as opposed to the biblical three hours -

(in spite of all this destruction on the American continant Joseph Smith claimed a pile of stones found in Missouri was an alter built by Adam -- strange!)

Who caused this supposed tragedy? 3 Nephi 9 is introduced with the voice of the one taking credit for the carnage. It is:

The Mormon Jesus - The Slaughterer!

It has finally been admitted by the Mormon prophet that Mormons have a different Jesus from the biblical Jesus (see Church News, Week ending June 20 1998) this has been obvious for many years to Christians who study Mormonism.

If you are a Mormon you have a problem, it is this.

Unless you place your faith in the true Jesus - the Biblical Jesus - and trust in Him and Him alone (not Him plus your good works), you are heading for a Godless eternity. Do not take my word for that, read the Bible - read Jesus' warnings about false prophets and false christs who will lead many astray.

According to the Book of Mormon "the land" [America] was covered with great cities and temples like that in Jerusalem. Having written all these buildings into his book Joseph Smith needed a way to get rid of them - otherwise not even Mormons would believe the book! So he had them destroyed. Nevertheless, you would have thought that some evidence of their existence would have been found by now - wouldn't you?

But there has been nothing at all found on the American continent to support the Book of Mormon, in spite of many claims which have been made throughout the years. In fact the Mormon people have been told to stop looking for evidence and just accept the Book of Mormon on faith. That's blind faith!

F.A.R.M.S. (Foundation for Ancient Research and Mormon Studies) scholars are seeking to establish a link between the Book of Mormon and the Yemen. They suggest this is where the people of the Book of Mormon left the old world and sailed to the new. The Yemen provides a very convenient place for these claims - let's face it - how many people can go and check-up on them?

Forget Yemen. If the Book of Mormon was really true America would be littered with evidence supporting it. There isn't any!
